Merry christmas
A quick note…..
Before you dig into this study, I just wanted to take a moment and share my heart with you about what prompted it.
Several years ago a friend of mine said during a Bible Study, “Everyone wants a Savior, but not everyone wants a Lord”. That simple statement has stuck with me ever since. I had seen many friends that wanted forgiveness for sins, but certainly did not want to be told what to do by anyone. And upon further reflection, I discovered I had a big ol’ log sticking out of my own eye on the very subject. “Jesus, I know I’m not perfect, please come save me and forgive me. But when it comes down to my daily life, Jesus, I’ve got this.” Perhaps this resonates with you too.
I discovered as a child in church, my Christmas season was always strongly focused on Jesus the human baby that came of a virgin. And rightly so, for this is exactly what happened that special night. But what we often miss out on, and what I missed out on, was that baby was no ordinary baby like you and I have been or have birthed ourselves. That incredible little being wrapped in swaddling clothes was God, Himself. This advent season I wanted us all to be reminded of that very significant truth. And to realize, maybe for the first time, it always was going to be a man that was God who would come to serve and save the world. It wasn’t just a baby that came into the presence of mankind that night to offer salvation, but it was also the Lord who came in complete authority over our lives.
Come with me and bring your whole family as we embark on a journey through the Old Testament that shows us just exactly who Jesus was always foretold to be and then celebrate his birth fully this Christmas season as both God and the Son of Man.
Awaiting the Savior,
